Business Development Manager - BDM - Insurance Industry - Midlands

My client has enjoyed 18% year on year growth over the last 10 years and is looking to recruit a high calibre BDM / Account manager. They provide  services to major insurance companies and deal with all the mid-tier insurance companies, and now due to having robust systems and processes in place are targeting the large top-tier insurance companies with a more specialist service, as well as mid-tier expansion. 

This is the reason for creating a further Business Development Manager position – specifically to target these key growth areas. 

The role will have a focus on business development, so you must be a real business developer is required that knows how to get business from a large corporate, has had experience dealing with the tender process, and feels comfortable and possesses the maturity to sell to Director level. 

Each deal can be worth millions in value, so a high degree of commercial acumen is necessary. Due to the sales cycle taking anywhere up to 12-18 months with larger clients, you will be given some existing accounts to manage, so account management skills are also necessary.

 You will be the focal point for all clients, so the role has a wide range of responsibilities & is fully immersed, requiring your organisational skills to be exceptional and not to get flustered under pressure.

 Other skills required are great attention to detail, and of course a fantastically well presented appearance, and the solid integrity needed when dealing with £ multi-million contracts.

Hardcore sales tactics are a no in this environment, it is more a case of softly, softly, reminding client of the benefits to try to close a deal, than harassing them. Most of the sale comes down to price and service levels.

The company prides itself on being extremely supportive & fair, because of the high level of responsibility that you get in the role. The whole team will work together on tenders with you delegating various responsibilities, but being responsible for pulling it altogether for the client.

 The package will include £35,000 basic (+ £750 per month bonus for achieving objectives agreed with Director each month) + £500 car allowance + Commission on all sales (Uncapped and realistically another £35,000 per annum).
